The Venezuelan pianist Clara Marcano studied in Caracas with Cristina Vidal de Pereira and made further studies in England at the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama under Ms. Edith Vogel. Ms. Marcano has performed in Europe, USA, South and Central America and the Caribbean, and has been invited as jury member at various national and international piano competitions, including the Teresa Carreño Piano Competition held at the Royal College
of Music in London. In addition to her regular performances, Ms. Marcano also presents a lecture-recital entitled El Merengue Caraqueño, which is a multi- media show that illustrates the history of one of the most popular and influential genres of Venezuelan music.

Her piano solo CD Venezuela (featuring Venezuelan music) is regarded
as a musical reference, and her recording with cellist Germán Marcano (works by Schumann, Beethoven and Debussy) has been highly acclaimed by critics, colleagues and audiences. She was the artistic director of the ensemble Navidad en Familia, which gathered some 40 members of her own family spanning four generations. The group made three recordings and offered sold-out performances every Christmas season for 18 years. Ms. Marcano has been given several awards in recognition for her contributions to the cultural life of Venezuela, among them the Orden Andrés Bello.

“Clara Marcano is a pianist of very special qualities: her sensitivity of touch, awareness of style and the expressive personality in her playing are quite unique.”
– Edith Vogel, Piano Professor, Guildhall School of Music and Drama – England

“Ms. Marcano’s musicianship is first-rate…”
– John D. Wiser, The Times Herald – New York
