Founded in 2005, Duo Martín, comprised of father and daughter guitarists Eduardo Martín and Galy Martín, both members are graduates of the Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba.

Primary objective of the duo has been the first-hand performance and dissemination of the music composed by Eduardo Martín.

Their repertoire includes also other compositions for guitar duo, chamber music for two guitars and various instrumental groups, as well as concertos for two guitars and orchestra, especially Cuban and Latin American composers.

Duo Martín has toured extensively in Argentina, Germany, Mexico, Cuba and the United States, participating in international festivals and radio and television programs, as well as giving lectures and master classes internationally.

Eduardo Martín

Internationally recognized guitarist and composer Eduardo Martín is one of the most sought-after composers of contemporary guitar, his works have been performed and recorded on five continents. He is a member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and a soloist of the National Center for Concert Music (CNMC). He has been a professor for many years at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA, Cuba).

He has taught at Guildhall School, London, England; Universidad Católica de Temuco, Chile; Universidad Autónoma de México, UNAM; Escuela Superior de Guitarra, Costa Rica; University of Costa Rica, UCR; National University of Costa Rica, UNA; Professional Conservatory, Cochabamba, Bolivia; National Conservatory of Mexico; Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain; Conservatorio de Vaduz, Liechtenstein; University of San Antonio, Texas, USA; Shepherd University, Shepherdstown, West Virginia, USA; Keene State College, New Hampshire, USA; Conservatory of Vic, Catalonia, Spain; Manuel de Falla Conservatory, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Institute of Fine Arts, Cali, Colombia; Universidad Autónoma de Honduras, UNAH; Joaquín Turina Conservatory, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain, among others.

In his frequent international tours, he performs solo recitals, master classes, seminars and workshops, receiving an enthusiastic response from both critics and the public. His compositions include a large number of works for guitar, voice, duets, trios, quartets, chamber ensembles, and symphony orchestra. He has also written incidental music for theater and film. His compositions have been published in France, Germany, Japan, the United States, and Canada, and are included in guitar study programs in music schools in many countries.

Galy Martín

Guitarist Galy Martín carries out her career as a soloist and chamber musician with various ensembles, especially in duet with her father, the outstanding guitarist and composer Eduardo Martín. She has performed as a soloist alongside prestigious chamber and symphony orchestras. She has performed in Cuba, the United States, France, Mexico, Argentina and Germany; she also appeared in radio and television programs in some of these countries. She has given lectures and master classes internationally.

She worked as the chair of guitar at the National School of Music of Cuba. She currently teaches at the Kendall Vivace Arts Conservatory in South Florida. She has premiered works by various contemporary Cuban composers.

She has organized important events such as Identidades Guitar Meeting, Havana Concerts, International Contemporary Music Festival, and Meeting of the College of Latin American Composers of art music. She directs the series of concerts En Confluencia together with Maestro Eduardo Martin. Two of her CDs have been nominated for the Cubadisco awards.

She holds a degree in music specializing in guitar from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA, Cuba). His postgraduate research includes Methodology of musicological research, ISA, under the guidance of Dr. Lino Neira in 2009-2010, and The accompanying guitar in Cuban music, ISA, under the guidance of Eduardo Martín and José A. Pérez Miranda in 2011-2012.
