Luciana Kube is a Venezuelan singer who, for two decades, has shared her country’s musical tradition with the world.
She began her musical studies in her hometown, Caracas, at the age of six, at the Prudencio Esaa school. She continued her training at the Simón Bolívar Conservatory with teachers Claudio Muskus and Eliseo Fernandez. At the same time, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism at the Andrés Bello Catholic University (1997). She continued her musical studies with Meritxell Olaya and Ivet Frontela at the Conservatorio Superior del Liceu, in Barcelona, Spain, where she moved in 1998. There, she was part of the Grupo Vocal Latinoamericano under the direction of Miguel Pesce.
In Barcelona she worked as a singing teacher at the Escola Frequéncies and Gesmusic. She worked in productions and masterclasses with Jordi Savall, Philip Pickett, David Roblou, Jordi Ricart, Albert Romaní, Markus Schikora, Montserrat Figueras, Lambert Climent, Andrew Lawrence-King, Dante Andreo, Gustavo Tambascio and Agustín Lisbona.
She has worked with directors Edmon Colomer, Harry Christophers, Juan de Udaeta, Francesc Llongueras, Albert Argudo, Joan Pàmies, Rosa Ribera and Friedrich Haider. As a member of the Camerata Barroca de Caracas, directed by Isabel Palacios, she participated in L’Incoronazione di Poppea (1997). In Barcelona she participated in Euridice (Jacopo Peri), Jephte (Carissimi) and Le Malade Imaginaire (Molière-Charpentier) directed by Markus Schikora. She has participated in musical productions in Tenerife, Oviedo (Teatro Campoamor, in the opera Tannhäuser) and La Mancha (with El Don Quixote by Manuel Garcia).
She collaborated in productions as a soloist with Luis Fernando Cárdenas, Jorge Nunes and Orlando Cardozo. She has performed with Jesús González Brito on various stages of Madrid, like the Sala Clamores or the Anthropological Museum.
She has shared stages with Venezuelan artists Omar Acosta, Carlos Silva, Carolina Prieto, Carlos Talez, Beatriz Corona, David Moreira and Pedro Reville, among others. With Ricardo Sandoval, she carried out “El Vuelo de Amanda”, a didactic-musical tale that led to schools and halls throughout the city of Madrid between 2010 and 2012.
She was part of the Ars Antiqua-Ars Nova chamber group in Madrid directed by Isaac Fernández de la Morena from 2013 to 2015. In those years she participated in the choir of operas and zarzuelas Agua, Azucarillos y aguardiente, La traviata, Carmen and Madame Butterfly.
In 2016 she played the role of the Countess of Ceprano in the Rigoletto directed by Fernando Alvarez at the Compac Theater in Madrid. Also, she performed as a soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria directed by Enrique Filiú.
She has lived in the United States since July 2016, where, in addition to completing her PhD in Hispanic Literature at FIU, she has participated in various concerts at the Miami Dade County Auditorium, at FIU’s WPAC, Theater Roca and Paseo de las Artes, as well as being invited by music group El Fuego to sing at the Tallahassee “Loco for Love” Festival under the baton of Venezuelan guitarist and singer Salomé Sandoval in March 2022.
She has been invited to sing on the WDNA radio station, accompanied by instrumentalists like Saúl Vera, Héctor Molina, Laura Lambuley, Henry Linarez, Nicolás Real or the recently deceased Aquiles Báez. She participated in a heartfelt posthumous tribute to this composer in October 2022.
