Classical guitarist Virginia Yep’s musical background builds up from her early childhood at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música (Lima, Perú) with Professor Juan Brito; expanding with studies at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música (Madrid, Spain) with the late José Luis Rodrigo; and a Ph.D. in Comparative Musicology from the Freie Universitat Berlin (Berlin, Germany).

She has participated in Master Courses in Granada, Santiago de Compostela, Bilbao and Vigo (Spain), with Flores Chaviano, José Luis Rodrigo and José Tomas; Ville de Castres (France) with Leo Brouwer; Prague (Czech Republic) with Vladimir Mikulka and Siena (Italy) with Oscar Ghiglia.

She has performed Concierto de Aranjuez (J. Rodrigo) as the soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Peru (Lima, Perú). She has also played the solo parts with the Camerata de Cuerdas de Trujillo (Trujillo, Perú), with the Orquesta de Cámara de Lima (Lima, Perú), and Baroque and contemporary musical groups.

Virginia Yep has under her belt a few world premieres and she has played recitals and concerts in Perú, South and Central America, U.S.A., Europe, Turkey, Morocco and China. She is very active in her participation to different events like the Uluslararsi gitar gunleri (2000, Turkey), Saiten der Kulturen (2010, Germany), Stiching Alhambra (2002, Holland), Gitarren der Welt (2012, 2013, Switzerland), Entrecuerdas (2009, 2012,Chile), International Guitare Festival (2010, Morocco), International Guitar Festival Ethos (2010 Dominican Republic), Guitarfest Perú (2010), Festival Cuerdas al aire (2011, 2012, 2017), Festival Internacional de Guitarra ICPNA (2005, 2012, Peru), Festival Guitarras del Mundo (2012, Argentina), Festival Internacional Guitarras en las Puertas del Sur (2019, Argentina), etc. She has also participated in the Chinese Documentary “La guitarra y yo” (CCTV, Beijing, China) in 2005.

She wrote articles and books about Peruvian music and has also recorded “Preludios Americanos” (2000), “Guitarreando” (2006), and “Poesía en Cuerdas de Guitarra”(2012) in compact disc format (CD).
