After completing her degree in guitar at the Royal Madrid Conservatory of Music and her Master’s Degree in Interpretation at the Hogeschool Zuid Conservatory in Maastricht (Holland), Laura Verdugo del Rey received her postgraduate degree at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

In recent years, her interest in the function of cultural entities has led her to broaden her profile with a Master’s Degree in Direction and Management of Cultural Industries from the Miguel de Cervantes European University.

During the years she dedicated to her musical training, she was a student of some of the best European teachers, including Demetrio Ballesteros, Àlex Garrobé and Carlo Marchione. Her high grades earned her the NUFFIC scholarship from the Dutch government, the special José Ramírez scholarship from the A.I.E. and she was also a concert performer in the INJUVE concert circuit.

Laura’s career as an interpreter has give her the opportunity to perform in numerous European concert halls in Holland, Italy, Iceland, Belgium, Germany and Greece, amongst others. She has also been a soloist with the Nova Cámera Orquesta de Madrid, the Orquesta Sta. Cecilia de Simpelveld (Holland) and the S.Petrus Orchestra in Maastricht (Holland).

Numerous juries from international guitar competitions have counted on her presence and she has been invited to give numerous masterclasses. Her interest and respect for contemporary music has led composers such as David del Puerto and Juan Erena to dedicate works to her.

Currently, Laura combines her work as a performer with teaching and cultural management: she is a member of the Lilith Ensemble, a senior guitar professor at the Katarina Gurska Higher Center for Musical Education in Madrid and the director of the Madrid International Guitar Festival.
